Beaches of South Walton (Scenic Hwy 30A)

It might surprise you that the Beaches of South Walton are part of an island, one of the barrier islands that dot the northern Gulf of Mexico. By far the most tranquil beaches on Northwest Florida's coast, you will discover both rustic coastal beach villages like Grayton Beach and upscale modern beach communities like Seaside and Watercolor. The collection of these unique villages, each with its particular characteristics, will bring a special blend of diversity to your beach vacation.

If you're searching for a peaceful and laid back lifestyle, surrounded by nature at its very best, then the Beaches of South Walton is the right choice for you. You won’t find crowds of people on our beaches, but you will find the perfect place to play or rest on them. You won't find high-rise condominiums, but you will find beautiful beach homes and cottages. You won't find long restaurant lines, but you will find some of the best food in the south. You won't find department stores, but you will find great shopping at boutiques and markets (besides, Destin is just next door). Don't worry, you will find a very convenient grocery store – Publix (but it's hidden from the beach).

Indeed, you'll find everything you need on the Beaches of South Walton, including great activities. Running along Scenic Highway 30A's beach communities, a bicycle path makes visiting the Beaches of South Walton both healthy and fun for the entire family. Stop and take a dip in the Gulf of Mexico, head over to Smiling Fish Café and take a bite into the best fish sandwich you’ve ever sunk your teeth into, grab a book from Sundog Books or The New York Times from the stand next to Modica Market, and if you still have the time (or the inclination), make a dinner reservation at one of our many noted restaurants: discovering the Beaches of South Walton is simply one great experience after the other.

Destin & Sandestin

"The Luckiest Fishing Village in the World."

Also part of the same barrier island as the Beaches of South Walton is Destin, The Luckiest Fishing Village in the World. In fact, Destin Harbor is a world in itself; the morning light on the harbor catches the early departure of the fishing fleet through an entrance so narrow that you can nearly touch the boats. As the sun goes down, followed by anxious pelicans and seagulls, the fleet returns laden with red snapper, amberjack, grouper, and if you’re lucky, cobia. You'll surely give into the temptation to settle at a table right on the harbor at Harbor Docks. Tell Charlie and Steve we say hello.

If shopping is your bag, Destin offers shops galore from Silver Sands Outlet Mall to Destin Commons to the many boutiques and department stores that line Destin’s main streets.

Of course, if you're a golfer you must have heard of our area's many championship golf courses. If not, let our reservationists clue you in. We are happy to help you arrange your golf days.

Water sports from surfing to parasailing to jet skis to chartering a boat can easily be found in Destin. Should you need assistance or information regarding water sports, simply ask our reservationists.

Whatever your to do list reminds you to do in Destin, make sure to take a look at the beautiful turquoise water within the jetties at Destin's most western tip – an awesome sight that you will never forget. You might even see a dancing dolphin.
